in German, to H.I. and R.H. Victoria, Crown Princess of the German Empire and Prussia, at the Neues Palais, Potsdam, with a good impression of his seal, all black-edged, Boskovice (north of Brno, Moravia), 21st June
Mensdorff's and Queen Victoria's mothers were sisters. She was very much taken by him on a visit by him and his brother Alexander, which preceded that of Albert and his brother. Albert later employed him to mediate in Portugal, where another Coburg cousin was King Consort.
