Autograph Letter Signed to Lady Eastlake, saying "Do not let your natural horror at any brochure about Shakespeare keep you from reading the enclosed letters" written to an "excellent lady (now dead)" by Sir Theodore's wife, the famous Shakespearean actress Helen Faucit (1816-1898), "Lady Martin shrinks from the idea of ... herself ... as a writer, and most reluctantly let me have these letters printed ... I hope you will think I was not wrong", 2 sides 8vo., 31 Onslow Square, S.W., 14th November

Lady Martin's 'On Ophelia and Portia', letters to a friend, were privately printed by her husband in 1880, followed by 'Imogen' in 1882 and 'Rosalind'. Her book 'On Some of Shakespeare's Female Characters' was published by Blackwood in 1885.
