Sir Theodore's translations included plays for his wife, the Shakespearean actress Helen Faucit (1816-1898).
Anna Swanwick was a famous translator of Goethe and Aeschylus. She helped found Queen's College, Bedford College (of which she was principal), Somerville and Girton.
