MURDOCH (Richard, 1907-1990, Actor and Broadcaster)

Autograph Letter Signed to 'Dear Mary', saying he has "three B.B.C. recording dates during the rehearsal period", but he does not "have to be at the Paris, Lower Regent Street until 7 p.m.", he gives the dates, "I will also arrange that if any transmissions take place during our tour I will get a credit (Richard Murdoch is appearing in 'Odd Man In' etc) ... I left some photos at the Wimbledon Theatre last Thursday", 2 sides 8vo., Toll Cottage, Walton-on-the-Hill, Tadworth, Surrey, no date, c.

Richard Murdoch and Arthur Askey collaborated in 'Bandwagon', (1938), the B.B.C.'s first radio sitcom (they were supposed to occupy a flat high above Broadcasting House). During the war he and Kenneth Horne (1907-1969), conceived the immensely popular 'Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh', an imaginary R.A.F. station.
