Obligation signed "By me Hary Horsfall" to John Clegg of Langfield (now Longfield, Todmorden), in Latin, in the sum of £274 for the fulfilment of the conditions in "a paire of indentures bearing the same date", with a middle section in English explaining "the condition of this obligation", vellum, 1 side 6½" x 11¼", 1st October seal and tab reattached with pin at foot

Signed also by witnesses John Hanson senior in the same hand as the document and by William Ireland, cleric. Also present were John Horsfall of Stoythley, John Utley, John Turner, John Crabtree and others.
