RICE  (Thomas Spring-Rice, 1st Baron Monteagle, 1790-1866, Chancellor of the Exchequer), telling him that he has "presented this day in the House of Commons a Petition from the Parish of St Dunstans ... complaining of the overwhelming pressure of a debt contracted for building & repairing their church, & praying for relief as connected with the Church Rate measure now pending. The Parishioners wish much to be favoured with an interview, for the purpose of stating their case in person ...", 3 sides 8vo., with annotations on the verso, no place, no date, dated on the verso 14th March slight staining on the verso

Besides his famous History of Greece, Grote was Vice-Chancellor of London University (1862) and President of University College London (1868).
