Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Darby Griffith, explaining that unfortunately he is "engaged to go into Hampshire ... or should have had great pleasure in joining your party to the Crystal Palace ... for, between London and Woolwich I have had not a moment for recreation or the society of my friends", no place, 'Thursday' no date, c. light traces of laying down on blank fourth side

Fenwick Williams Pasha, supporting the Turks on the Caucasian front, held Kars in a remarkable seige by Count Muraviev, till compelled to capitulate on 26th November 1855. In one assault the Russians lost 7000 men. After the Crimean War, Williams was General-Commandant of Wooolwich Garrison, and Colonel-Commandant, Royal Artillery, 1864.
