ROCHESTER (Laurence Hyde, 1641-1711, 1st Earl, brother-in-law of James II), DERING (Sir Edward, 1625-1684, 2nd Bt.), and GODOLPHIN (Sidney, 1645-1712, 1st Earl, Queen Anne's Lord High Treasurer),

Document signed by all three as Lords of the Treasury, ordering the repayment of £51 19s 11d with interest to Aldermen Gardiner and Osborne of Norwich, for quartering "severall of Captaine George Littletons Soldiers in the Regiment of his Highness the Duke of Yorke ... for Severall days ... deducted out of their pay", to be taken from the £296462 17s 3d voted "for Paying off, and Disbanding the Forces Raised since the 29th September 1677", with an attractive 18th century engraving, 11½" x 7¾", of Godolphin's funeral monument erected by his daughter-in-law Henrietta Churchill, from 1722 Duchess of Marlborough in her own right, the document printed with manuscript additions, 1 side folio, Whitehall, Treasury Chambers, 7th July narrow piece torn from right hand margin to cancel the document (not touching the signatures), with loss of about 8 letters (easily supplied), tiny tear in horizontal fold of engraving

Laurence Hyde was at this time Charles II's chief adviser. He later edited for the press his father's (Clarendon's) History of the Rebellion.
