MARY (of Teck, 1867-1953, Queen of George V)

Autograph letter signed 'Victoria Mary' to Miss Ryland saying that "Lady Eva Dugdale has given me the lovely cup for my son, and I hasten to assure you how delighted he is with your valuable and interesting gift which he will ever treasure ...", 2 sides 8vo., York House, St James's Palace, together with a copy of the letter from Lady Dugdale, Lady in Waiting to the Princess of Wales, saying that "being an invalid I have many hours for active thought, and the accompanying 'Victoria Cup' has given me much pleasant careful deliberation ...", explaining that she has had a small collection of early coins incorporated into the design of the cup, together with some maundy money and believes that it will become valuable in the future and that as she has no children she would like to present it to "Prince Edward of York, if the gift be one that may be thought worthy of acceptance ...", also 2 side 8vo., The Redlands, Birmingham, 5th and 14th May the letters are lightly attached to each other
