WHITTAKER PRINTING IN GOLD [GEORGE IV (1762-1830, King of Great Britain)]

George Byrom WHITTAKER, (1793-1847, bookseller and publisher), became a partner of Charles Law, wholesale bookseller, in London about 1814 joining a house established by W. Bidwell Law (d. 1798). Whittaker brought capital and energy into the business. He perfected the skill of printing in gold on thick paper and vellum. This work included 27 portraits in its 31 leaves and was strictly limited in its sale.
