Superb typed letter signed with autograph subscription to "Sir My Brother and Dear Cousin Your Majesty's Affectionate Brother and Cousin",  GEORGE II  (King of the Hellenes, 1890-1947, reigned 1922-1924 and 1935-1947) announcing "the death of My dearly beloved Great Aunt Her Royal Highness the Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, which took place at Kensington Palace on the third day of December last. From the proofs of friendship which You have manifested towards Me on other occasions I cannot but feel persuaded the Your Majesty will fully sympathise in the great grief which has thus fallen upon Me and upon my Royal House ...", 2 sides 4to., on separate leaves of black crested mourning paper, with original envelope with seal on the verso, Buckingham Palace, 16th January

Princess Louise Caroline (1848-1939), Queen Victoria's sixth child, she married the Marquis of Lorne, later 9th Duke of Argyll in 1871 and was a Sculptress.
