Letter signed by the above and David Cuthbert to Charles JENKINSON
(1729-1808, Lord of the Treasury) replying to an enquiry from the Treasury Commissioners “referring to Us the annex'd Memorial of Nicholas Magens, directing us to Examine the Certificate... & to report to you... whether the said certificate has been duly granted, & whether it is the Property of Persons accused or suspected of Fraud...” giving the answers that the certificate had been officially granted and “it does not appear to us that Casimir Bilgen, in whose favour the certificate was granted, is among the number of Persons accused or suspected of Fraud... the said certificate amounting to the sum of Twenty four Thousand Eight hundred & forty five Ducats, one Rixdollar, nine mariengros & two pfg, the Ducat at two & three quarters, ought to be satisfied...”, 2 side folio, Scotland Yard, 3rd November
At the time of this document Pownall, Cornwall & Cuthbert were Commissioners for examining German Accounts after the Seven Years War of 1756-1763
