ONE OF QUEEN VICTORIA'S PARASOLS [VICTORIA (1819-1901, Queen of Great Britain)]

One of her Parasols with a cream silk outside and a purple silk interior, the end and trimmings of ivory with a wooden handle, on the handle is her monogram - V.R. with a crown, no date, circa 1880, together with a charming unsigned Portrait Photograph, by A.J. Melhuish of the Queen with her youngest daughter BEATRICE showing them facing each other, three quarter length, nearly three quarter face, the Queen in a dark but pretty dress with overall appliqué designs and a white cap, looking affectionately at Beatrice in a narrow waisted jacket and skirt, in one hand Beatrice holds the Queen's, in the other a large dark parasol over both their heads, the Queen is smiling slightly beside her, 5½" x 4", no place, no date, circa 1885 in remarkably good condition

An unusual and touching grouping. Melhuish (1825-1896), portrait painter as well as photographer, was noted for his artistic approach.

From Keble College Oxford who were presumably given it by the Queen. It is very unusual to see the Queen smile.
