MARGARET
(Rose, 1930-2002, Princess, Sister of Queen Elizabeth II, Countess of Snowdon) ]
Lovely Tableau Vivant photo titled ‘Old Mother Red Riding Boots’, by Studio Lisa, Herts.,
the image shows the young Princesses together with the full cast and the Royal Horse Guards Orchestra dressed in costume for a play devised by the Princesses and Hubert Tanner as the Christmas Pantomime, Elizabeth in the character of ‘Lady Christina Sherwood’, Margaret, ‘The Honourable Lucinda Fairfax’, 12” x 8½”, together with programme, 4 sides 8vo, Waterloo Chamber, Windsor Castle, Christmas
Tableau Vivants were a tradition rekindled by the Royal Family shortly after the death of the Prince Consort. This would take the form of the family getting into costume for certain roles recreating a scene from a play, a picture or a word. This tradition has been taken further by the young Princesses as this picture is of the girls starring in a production that they devised.
