[CHARLES (1887-1922, Emperor of Austria) and his wife ZITA (of Bourbon Parma, 1892-1989)]

Unusual pair of unsigned postcard photos of them at their Hungarian coronation in 1916 after the demise of Franz Joseph, she is seated wearing her magnificent robes and crown and he is standing, also in his finery, his 4½" x 3½" and hers 5½" x 3½", no place, The card showing the Emperor has been trimmed of the blank bottom edge

Within two years they were to lose their throne. Zita was to live until 1989 and became increasingly embittered with the years about the short period of time she had as an Empress. Material relating to this couple is very unusual.
