[TENNYSON (Alfred, Lord, 1809-1892, Poet Laureate)]

Exceptional Imperial cabinet photo by BARRAUD inscribed on the verso in the recipient's youthful hand for "G. Locker-Lampson from Lady Tennyson" with the date, the image shows him half length seated in a chair looking to one side, with a handkerchief in his lap, 13" x 7", no place, slight damage to top left hand corner

Godfrey Lampson Tennyson Locker-Lampson, (1875-1946, the writer, lyric poet and M.P.), was the son by his second marriage of Frederick Locker-Lampson (1821-1895), the poet and close friend of the Tennysons. In 1878 Godfrey's half-sister Eleanor, (1854-1915), had married the Tennysons' younger son Lionel (1854-1886), who died tragically at Aden on his way back from India after contracting jungle fever.
