B.T. is the Board of Trade where Admiral FitzRoy was now very active as Meteorological Statist.
Sir James Emerson Tennent (1804-1869, Traveller, Politician & Author), a former Governor of Ceylon, was also now at the Board of Trade as its Permanent Secretary. As an M.P. in 1842, he had promoted the Copyright of Designs Bill, which gave manufacturers great encouragement, in particular those who exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
