Prince George was the fourth son and fifth child of King George V and Queen Mary, the younger brother of Kings Edward VIII and George VI. He held the title of Duke of Kent from 1934 until his death in a military air-crash on 25 August 1942. His grandparents were King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
From the collection of The Viscount Norwich and Lady Diana Cooper. Viscountess Norwich (née Lady Diana Manners, 1892-1986), was a famously glamorous social figure in London and Paris. As a young woman, she moved in a celebrated group of intellectuals known as the Coterie, most of whom were killed in the First World War.
