Princess Amelia (1783-1810) was the fifteenth child and sixth daughter of King George III and his wife Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. In 1808, Amelia had a severe attack of measles. The anxious King George decided to send Amelia to Weymouth, accompanied by her sister Mary. Her health only improved only a little and by 1809, she could occasionally take short walks in the garden. This improvement was temporary and by October 1810 she was confined to her bed. She was looked after in her last days byher favourite and devoted sister, Mary. She died on her brother Edward's birthday, 2nd November.
