Emperor Tewodros II of Ethiopia. Emperor Tewodros II committed suicide after his defeat by the British, led by Sir Robert Napier, at the conclusion of the British Expedition to Abyssinia in 1868. After the Battle of Magdala, the young prince was taken to Britain, under the care of Captain Tristram Speedy. His mother had intended to come with him but died on the journey so the young Prince stayed at his guardian's home on the Isle of Wight where he met Queen Victoria. He was buried at Windsor Castle.
