[FRIEDRICH III (Wilhelm Nikolaus, 1831-1888, son-in-law of Queen Victoria, Emperor of Germany for 99 days) and EDWARD VII (1841-1910, King of Great Britain)]

Fine unsigned carte de visite photo showing the Crown Prince full length in military uniform with his hands resting on his sword, and on the verso is another of the Prince of Wales, his brother in law, showing him half length in uniform with decorations, 3¾" x 2¼", no place, no date

Pictures of Friedrich III are uncommon due to his early death from throat cancer. He only survived his father Wilhelm I by three months. As Crown Prince his position was made very difficult by his opposition to Bismarck and also as his wife Victoria, Empress Frederick antagonised the Prussian people with her aggressive & tactless Englishness.
