Lord Tennyson was named after Arthur Hallam, the subject of 'In Memoriam'. He served as his father's secretary until the end of his life. Alfred Tennyson continued writing into his eighties. He died on 6th October 1892 at Aldworth, aged 83. This must be one of the last letters from Farringford before the poet died.
