consisting of 8 drawings of various subjects, young boys, a woman, a group of men, an old man, two men playing woodwind instruments, two men sitting in a forest, a man climbing and two of a boy running, various sizes from 9" x 7" to 13" x 8", no place, no date,
together with a Typed Letter signed by M.C. Heseltine of Sotheby's
confirming that he has "no reason to doubt the contents of this note as the style of each of the drawings is in keeping with Rackham's early work as an illustrator. Rackham is recognised as one of the leading literary figures during the Golden Age of British book illustration. His work is noted for its robust pen and ink drawings, which were combined with the use of watercolour, a technique he developed due to his background as a journalistic illustrator.
