Autograph Letter signed to Mr Blunt saying he has "an opportunity of writing by the Ambassador's Bag to beg you to send me a letter to Malta in case you shd have occasion to write. This is the only certain direction that I can give & the letter must be dispatched immediately to have any chance of meeting me. If there is any matter of importance, you had better send a duplicate to Naples. There sooner or later, but probably not much before Xmas, I am sure of meeting it ...." with a postscript asking him to "mention Ld Berwick's house, and also the price asked for Lord Farnboro's ...", 1 side 4to., Venice, 19th October

Canning was an British statesman and Governor-General of India during the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and the first Viceroy of India after the transfer of power from the East India Company to the Crown of Queen Victoria in 1858 after the rebellion was crushed.
