TIETJENS (Thérèse, 1831-1877, Hungarian Operatic Soprano)

Charming unsigned albumen carte de visite photo showing her half length in costume, 4¼" x 2½", no place, no date, mounted with a gilt fillet and a signature with inscription "Yours truly", 3½" x 2", laid down together

She was a leading opera and oratorio soprano. She made her career chiefly in London during the 1860s and 1870s, but her sequence of musical triumphs in the British capital was terminated by cancer. Her signature is rare due to her early death.
