PLYMOUTH MENU MENU FROM 1895

Fine printed menu for a dinner at Carhullen, Hartley near Plymouth, listing the many courses, starting with oysters, then turtle soup, a fish course, entrees of Lobster, Sweetbreads and Pigeon, followed by joint of meat, game and sweets with a final savory, the menu has the Plymouth crest with their motto "turris fortissima est nomen jehova" which translates as "strongest tower is the name of Jehovah" at one side of the card and another crest with "compositum jus fasque animi" underneath it meaning "Law and equity combined" on the other, 1 side 8vo., Carhullen, Hartley, 12th February

Presumably the City Council was having some very important celebration on this day in 1895.
