PITT (William, 'The Younger', 1759-1806, Prime Minister)

Clerk Written Letter Signed to the Revd E. Glover in Norwich saying that "the repeated Marks which I have had the happiness to receive of the partiality and Confidence of the University of Cambridge encourage me again to offer myself as a Candidate for the honour of representing it in Parliament, and I take the liberty of requesting your Interest and Support. I flatter myself that it will not be necessary for me to Solicit the Attendance of such of my Friends as are at a distance, but it there should arise any appearance of a Contest, I trust you will allow me to trouble you with a further application ...", 1 sides 4to., with integral autograph leaf, Pembroke Hall, 29th June

In 1784 Pitt won a personal triumph when he was elected a Member for the University of Cambridge, a constituency he had long coveted and which he would continue to represent for the remainder of his life.
