[PAVLOVA
(Anna, 1885-1931, Russian Ballerina)]
Souvenir programme, not signed
with many pictures of her in her most famous roles with a programme of various dances presented by Edmund Russon, performed by Pavlova with Laurent Novikoff and Ivan Clustine, with the Corps de Ballet and the Covent Garden Orchestra, 8 pages A4, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, no date, circa
Pavlova is considered probably the Greatest Dancer there has ever been and certainly the most famous classical ballerina of her era. She trained at the school of the Imperial Ballet, made her debut as soloist in 1899, and became prima ballerina of the company in 1906. She toured Europe, and in 1910 made her American debut with the Russian dancer Mikhail Mordkin at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. She founded her own company in 1911, and danced extensively in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, often bringing ballet for the first time to remote areas.
