Pseudonym of
Alderson Burrell HORNE
(1863-1953, Theatre Director) writing to him “in advance re the Theatrical Garden Party. As you know, last year there was considerable agitation about theatres which happened to be playing Tuesday matinees. Certain managements were able to cancel their matinees for us while others were not, and I want to ask you most urgently if you could possibly arrange now to change your matinee in any of your productions if it should happen to be on the Tuesday afternoon, June 6h. This year, we are for the first time holding the Garden Party at Ranelagh and, as it is a little bit farther off than it has been hitherto, we need every bit of support we can get from the profession...”, 1 side 4to., on Theatrical Garden Party 1939 headed paper, in aid of the Actors’ Orphanage, Cecil Chambers, 76-86 Strand, 24th April
