published in October 1920. Within a year he completed another Forsyte short story (or "interlude"), called "
Awakening
", and a third novel,

, published in September 1921. A month later the International PEN Club (standing for "Poets, Essayists, Novelists") was founded in London, with Galsworthy as its president, a position he held for the rest of his life. In May 1922 the three Forsyte novels were issued in a single volume as
The Forsyte Saga
, and sold prodigiously.
