Fine Autograph Letter Signed ‘Louise de Stolberg Comtesse d'Albany’ in French with

saying that “Monsieur Léoni wishes, my dear young lady, to be introduced to you. I thought you would be pleased... to receive him, you will be delighted to make his acquaintance and I am pleased to present to you by means of my introduction a person of merit and talent whom I esteem and whose society I like. Please receive the assurance of my ancient interest and the esteem...”, 1 side 8vo., 30th October
Louise and her husband (self-styled Count of Albany) lived first at the old Stuart palace in Rome, but the childless marriage became very unhappy and in 1780 Louise fled to her brother-in-law Cardinal York. She later settled in Florence on the Lungarno with the poet Alfieri (d. 1803), continuing to keep court after his death with nightly receptions and patronising men of science and letters, and enjoying a pension of £1600 per annum from George III.
