Delightful Imperial cabinet photo by Downey, signed and inscribed underneath “Alexandra & her granddaughters”, the image shows the Queen with two of her grandchildren – the daughters of the Duchess of Fife, ALEXANDRA (1891-1959) & MAUD (1893-1945), one on either side, she has her arm around Maud’s shoulders, 13” x 7½”, no place, no date, circa

This photograph of Alexandra and the Fife girls was taken at Mar Lodge in 1903. The queen rarely saw the young Fifes so pictures of them with their Grandmother are rare.
