Autograph Note signed on a postcard to George VILLIERS almost certainly 6th Earl of Clarendon (1877-1955, Conservative Politician), telling him that he “went to the ‘Sins of Society’ last night. I simply revelled in it. The staging is quite marvellous & the play is thrilling. To-night there is a huge dinner party, where I shall overeat myself and get drunk. I am just off to meet Alfonso & Ena at the station...”, 2 sides headed card with original autograph envelope, 4½” x 3½”, Kensington Palace headed card, 23rd November

George Herbert Hyde Villiers, 6th Earl of Clarendon, was a British Conservative politician from the Villiers family. He served as Governor-General of the Union of South Africa from 1931 to 1937.
Prince Maurice lived with his mother Princess Beatrice at Kensington palace after they gave up Osborne cottage. The Prince served in World War I as a Lieutenant in the King's Royal Rifle Corps, and was killed in action at Zonnebeke, in the Ypres Salient, on 27 October 1914. His mother, Princess Beatrice, declined Lord Kitchener’s offer to have her son's body repatriated. He is buried in Ypres Town Cemetery which was considered a popular move in war torn Britain. His elder sister Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg ‘Ena’ married Alfonso XIII of Spain and was Queen Consort of Spain between 1906 and 1931.
