Second page of a Long Autograph Letter Signed starting “however, acquainting me of your original purpose, it seems to me in all respects more proper, to place them unreservedly at your own disposal; and in doing so I would venture to suggest that when they have been mounted as you suggest, (which is indispensable for their permanent preservation) they should be presented by yourself, and in your own hand, to the Royal Society, where they will be preserved with the same care & regard which has been paid to the drawings of the Artist who accompanied Capt. Cook. I will ask you however on my own part, to return the smaller drawings, those at least which are inscribed or have been gifted... to myself or to my wife...”, with a postscript “Of course the suggestion in reference to to Royal Society, is made only in the view that you may not, now that the Prince Consort is no longer living, have any other preference...”, 2 sides 8vo., no place, no date, circa
