CANON DUCKWORTH WRITES TO A ROYAL PRINCESS DUCKWORTH (Robinson, 1834-1911, Canon and Sub-Dean of Westminster, associate of Lewis Carroll)

Autograph Letter Signed to “Madam” saying that he feels “highly honoured and gratified by Your Royal Highness’s kind acceptance of the little token of my faithful remembrance, and my heartfelt interest in Your Royal Highness’s approaching happiness. The photographs which Your Royal Highness has been good enough to send to me are charming. They enable me to realise that a great chance has indeed taken place since the day of the Church Catechism at Windsor. I enclose, in accordance with Your Royal Highness’s gracious request, the latest portrait taken of myself. May God abundantly bless Your Royal Highness and crown your married life with honour & usefulness!...”, 4 sides 8vo., 77 Hamilton Terrace, 11th February

Robinson Duckworth was present on the original boating expedition of 4th July 1862 during which Alice's adventures were first told by Lewis Carroll. He is represented by the Duck in the book, a play on his last name. He was Chaplain-in-Ordinary to Queen Victoria from 1870 to 1901, for which service he was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
It is possible that the correspondent is Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia. In February 1878, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, fell in love with her at the wedding of his niece, Charlotte of Prussia and they got engaged.
