ZANGWILL (Israel, 1864-1926, Jewish Playwright, Novelist & Poet)

Fine Autograph Letter Signed to Miss Ethel E. Cohen saying that “Mill’s Logic says that my handwriting may be seen below the frontispiece of the book you refer to so kindly. Are you a teacher in your College? Of Logic? At Yale University this term 250 students are following the ‘course in modern novels’ under Dr William L. Phelps. Of course the higher education is impossible without novel-reading; I only wish novel-writing were impossible without the higher education...”, 1 side 8vo., 24 Oxford Road, Kilburn, headed paper, 28th October

Zangwill was a British author at the forefront of cultural Zionism during the 19th century, and was a close associate of Theodor Herzl. He later rejected the search for a Jewish homeland in Palestine and became the prime thinker behind the territorial movement.
