Fine Autograph Letter Signed to “Dear Dalziel” saying “Don’t be angry with me, but I cannot possibly do justice to the drawings before Xmas day. I am very sorry to disappoint you but I am sure it is better not to hurry them. You shall have them as soon after Xmas as possible...”, 1 side 8vo, The Hill, Witley, Surrey, 23rd December

The recipient is Edward DALZIEL (1817-1905) who, with his brother George and later other siblings had a wood-engraving business in London. They worked with many important Victorian artists, producing illustrations for the burgeoning magazine and book market of the period.
