'A Letter from the Bishop of C. to the Earl of Bellamont on his late duel with Lord Townshend', printed article from the Westminster Magazine, being pp. 117-120 for February leaves separated and with remains of mount in margin, some light folding

The Earl took an active part in quelling insurrection in Ireland. On 2nd February 1773 he fought a duel in Marylebone Fields with Lord Townshend (Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, 1767-1772, later 1st Marquess), and was badly wounded. A carefully reasoned and at times passionate plea against duelling, by making it unfashionable.
