TRANUM (John, Parachutist)

At Netheravon on 24th May 1933, Tranum dived head first from a plane at 27,000 ft, then delayed opening while he fell 17,250 ft. The previous record for the delayed drop was 15,000 ft, in America. Tranum drifted 5 miles on to the downs, and narrowly missed a tree on landing.
