On 4th November 1926, after the civil ceremony in Stockholm, Leopold sailed from Gothenburg to Ostend, while his bride followed in the 'Fylgia' from Malmö to Antwerp. On the 8th, Leopold was waiting on the quay with an immense crowd who cheered wildly when he embraced her, the religious ceremony following two days later.
