You have somehow or other omitted my name from your Directory this year", and adding "prima donna soprano" and her London address under her signature, blind embossed monogram, 2 sides 8vo., Royal Hotel, Edinburgh, 24th April no year c. light cancellation of first side by recipient

Henry Wood, in 'My Life of Music', tells how he conducted for Marie Roze on her farewell tour with the Carl Rosa. Police had to be called out at the railway stations, the crowds made her sing from her hotel balcony, and they took the horses from the shafts of her carriage. She was Massenet's first 'Manon' in England.
