Autograph Letter Signed to 'My dear Sir', asking for "your opinion on this subject before The Prince sends this Lady any money ... It would have jingled as her letter states, long before it arrived in London for your address, if the carriage by the Mail could have hurt it", which he considers impossible, "It was in a very strong case ... with wrappings of Cartridge paper innumerable - It is really too bad .. to be subject to such a claim", with a P.S. "The Prince arrived here this day - and remains till the 30th when we return home I believe", 4 sides 4to. black edged, Gloucester Lodge, Weymouth, 9th March

'Home' was Melbourne Lodge, Claremont, where Gardiner lived as Prince Leopold's equerry.
