[VICTORIA (1819-1901, Queen of Great Britain)]

Telegram sent by the Hon. Harriet Lepel Phipps, (1841-1922, lady-in-waiting 1862-1901), to the Hon. Evelyn Moore (b. 1856) at Monteviot, Ancrum, Roxburghshire, saying "The Queen wishes you to know dear Princess Beatrice had a daughter at a ¼ to 4 this afternoon both are doing well", in pencil as received, 1 side 5½" x 8¾", Balmoral, 24th October short internal closed tear without loss

Princess Beatrice was Queen Victoria's youngest child and she and her family lived at Osborne Cottage to be close to her. The baby was Victoria Eugénie, later Queen of Alfonso XIII.
