Autograph Letter Signed, in English, to Mr Lathom, Russian consul at Dover, saying "Here I am; but as the weather is so rough I shall only start to morrow, I hope with the Water Witch", and asking him "will you allow me to reckon upon your obligingness as formerly in preventing my being detained at the custom house ... Ever yours sincerely", 1 side 8¼" x 6½" and conjugate address leaf in French, marked by her "très recommandée", Boulogne, 19th June

The Princess, wife of the Russian Diplomat, maintained a famous salon, much frequented by diplomats and politicians. From 1837 she lived mostly in Paris.
