NASH (John, 1893-1977, R.A., Painter, War Artist, Illustrator and Engraver)

Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Winifred Arnold of Little Baddow, near Chelmsford, thanking her for her congratulations [on his C.B.E.], her accompanying gift "reminds me of former occasions at Bigwood when I could not hope to return your generosity! I see you are incorrigible", he thinks one of the ties "would do for me when I have to go to the Palace especially if I have to hire one of those boring suits from Moss Bros.! Our warmest regards to you both ...", 1 side 8vo, Bottengoms Farm, Wormingford, Essex, 4th July

Winifred Arnold attended John's courses at Flatford. In May 1970 he wrote a note for her own catalogue, "I remember her pressing me for instruction in perspective and other professional aspects ... but I fended off these requests ... objects were as she saw them and she made them conform to her vision ".
