LOUISE VICTORIA (Alexandra Dagmar, 1867-1931, Princess Royal, Duchess of Fife. Daughter of Edward VII)

Early original pencil sketch signed, inscribed "from Louise to dear Jonnie", and dated, showing a series of drawings of houses, trees, an envelope and its letter marked 'from Jonnie', some flowers, a jam pot, a man playing tennis, in all 20 little pictures from her mind's eye as they caught her fancy, almost all different, 1 side 8vo, no place, 29th January rather tatty at the edges

From a collection of letters and drawings done for Mrs Elizabeth Jones, 'Jonnie', (d. 13th May 1881), the much loved nanny to the Princess of Wales's children. One of the drawings, slightly larger, is very good of a cottage with a chimney stack at the end, a figure at the open top half of the door, the side wall covered with creepers.
Princess Louise was not quite 10 at the time.
