ELIZABETH (The Queen Mother, 1900-2002, Queen of George VI)

Beautiful Portrait Photograph by  CECIL BEATON,  signed and dated on the mount, showing her in profile to the left, seated three quarter length, her right arm resting on the side of the chair, in a white organza dress slightly off the neck with a very full skirt, and wearing a diamond tiara, earrings, necklace and bracelet, her sash includes the Garter star and two portrait medallions, 6¾" x 5¾" on card mount 9½" x 7", no place, taken about 1950, this print signed by the Queen later and dated light crease in bottom right corner of mount barely touching flourish of signature and two figures of date, all entirely legible, small light crease in top left corner of mount

Beaton's famous photographs of Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace in 1939 established a new romantic image for the monarchy. He subsequently photographed her five times between 1947 and 1957 and deliberately tried to re-create the spirit of the 1939 image - the be-spangled crinoline dress with lots of diamond jewellery.
