During this holiday, on 14th September, Princess Marie and Prince Valdemar became engaged. They were married in France on 20th and 22nd October. Princess Marie embraced Prince Valdemar's life in the Navy, and had an anchor tattooed on her arm. Her brother Prince Henri became a well known explorer, discovering the source of the Irrawaddy. At this time Prince George of Greece, seen here in uniform, was living under the care of his uncle Prince Valdemar while in the Danish Navy.
