The regiment, originally the 2nd Regiment of Scinde Irregular Horse, was raised in 1846 by Lieutenant John Jacob of the Bombay Artillery. In 1922 the 36th was amalgamated with the 35th to form the Prince of Wales's Own Scinde Horse.
The distinctive uniform includes a striped cloth turban, knee-length coat and riding boots, and a large horseman's purse.
