Princess Alice and Prince Ludwig were married at Osborne on 1st July 1862. Ludwig had been chosen by Prince Albert, but the wedding was postponed because of his untimely death. Among their children were (Russian Saint) Elisabeth, wife of Grand Duke Sergei, Alix, wife of Tsar Nicholas II, and Victoria Alberta, wife of Prince Louis, 1st Marquess of Milford Haven.
